To access Oracle Forms-based content in the Oracle E-Business Suite, end-users require the "Sun Java2 Standard Edition Java Runtime Engine". Many of these product names sound similar, and are sometimes even used interchangeably in Sun's own documentation. It is important that you read and follow this document in its entirety before starting an upgrade or applying any patch. This document will explain the steps needed to upgrade to the latest certified version of JRE Native Client for supporting forms-based modules used with Oracle E-Business Suite R12. The Oracle E-Business Suite R12 has two interfaces: a web-based model for modules like iProcurement and iStore, and an Oracle Forms-based model for our professional services modules like Oracle Financials. This is available as a patch download from My Oracle Support which is listed in the JRE Parameter Settings table.
